Welcome to restaurant El Qatarijne, where culinary tradition and innovation merge through a Mediterranean lens. As soon as you enter, you experience Mediterranean hospitality rooted in the joy of welcoming you as our guest. With our cooking, service and hospitality, we bring warmth inspired by the East and presented in the West.
El Qatarijne also has an open kitchen, allowing you and your guests to enjoy watching the chefs at work.

Born on February 1, 1978 in Mesopotamia, Eastern Turkey, Baris grew up with the rich culinary traditions of his homeland. His passion for cooking took him to Izmir in 1993, where he completed his international culinary training and laid the foundation for an impressive career in gastronomy.
After many years of experience in different kitchens, Baris had the opportunity to further develop his talent in the Netherlands in 2002. With a deep love for flavorful, artisanal dishes and a refined sense of hospitality, he realized his dream in 2016: Restaurant El Qatarijne in Utrecht.
At El Qatarijne, the best of two worlds comes together. With the concept East Meets West, chef Baris combines the authentic flavors of the Middle East and the Levant with refined European influences. Classic recipes are reimagined with modern cooking techniques, while artisanal preparation and carefully selected ingredients remain at the heart of his kitchen.
